Accommodation by the sea in Świnoujście
There are places on the Baltic Sea that are worth visiting at least once. It may also happen that when we come for the first time, it will certainly not end during one visit. Świnoujście is one of such destinations. The only city in Poland located on over 40 (smaller or larger) islands. The largest of them are Wolin, Uznam and Karsibór. In Świnoujście, nature skillfully combines with an interesting history, modern architecture and “slow life”. When there is so much beautiful nature around you, when the open waters of the Baltic Sea tempt you, when you can choose a different way of spending your free time every day, life takes on color and unique flavor.
Both in summer and winter, Świnoujście has a lot to offer to its visitors. It all depends on our interests. When going to Świnoujście, breakwaters should be one of the first destinations for a trip. There are two of them in the city – the Western and Central Breakwater. Both are of an impressive length of 350 m and 1,400 m. Over one kilometer long, the Central Breakwater is the longest facility of this type in Europe, while the West Breakwater features a charming symbol of the city and a destination for many hikes – Sława Młyny.
Being at the mouth of the Świna River, another must-see destination is the Świnoujście ports – a commercial and tourist port as well as a naval base. Walking along the port shores, we can admire dozens of ships and cutters, and such a trip will appeal to both adults and children. What else will delight you while walking around Świnoujście? Of course, the lighthouse – the highest mad lighthouse by the Baltic Sea. It is over 70 meters high, and from its terrace there is a fantastic view of the ports, the mouth of the Świna River and the island of Usedom.
With reference to the ports and the lighthouse, it is worth saying a little more about the beaches of Świnoujście. More than 10 kilometers of picturesque coastline, 4 km on the island of Wolin and 6 on the island of Usedom. The city beach in Świnoujście has been awarded the so-called The Blue Flag, i.e. decorations for the cleanest and safest bathing areas on the Baltic Sea. In addition, ethereally looming ships on the horizon, seaside birds and the sound of waves … you can truly dream. A rich gastronomic offer, bases for water sports, and secluded nooks where you will experience peace, away from people and “civilization”. Świnoujście beaches are a unique treasure of the city.
Świnoujście is an excellent holiday destination also for active people. The surrounding islands offer over 150 km of cycling and hiking trails, well marked and prepared to the European standard. They are adapted to the level of difficulty of excursions and recreational walks, but we can also find more professional ones. The location of Świnoujście is also, and perhaps above all, water sports. The vicinity of the Szczecin Lagoon and the open waters of the Baltic Sea allows you to adjust the level of difficulty of the reservoir to your sports skills. Thus, there are sailing or windsurfing courses for beginners on the lagoon, while advanced people swim in the sea.
